De woedeuitbarstingen en agressief gedrag komen inderdaad in cycli voor, en sommige psychiaters denken dat dit een bewijs is voor manische depressiviteit. Er is geen verschil tussen kinderen en ouders; soms komen de gedragsproblemen opeenvolgend, oftewel in ‘cycli’. Medicijnen voor manische depressiviteit werken echter lang niet in alle gevallen.
