Constipation

Question

Is frequent constipation related to CdLS?

Answer of our experts

Yes, constipation is frequently seen in CdLS, in up to 40% of individuals. For routine constipation I think prune juice and other dietary manipulations are helpful. Also, I would recommend increasing fiber content of food as well as total water intake. Often, constipation can be related to low muscle tone. Severe constipation may need further evaluation and treatment. Miralax can be a very effective medication for this.
